The house was sandblasted on the outside in the spring of 2019. With the exception of the balconies, because they were due for replacement. The facades are covered with larch shingles. His new balconies were then made from larch wood. Work on the house could of course only be done in a mid-season when there are no guests. So it took a while before this job could be done completely. The final touches to the balconies, the balcony fence boards, have been laid and after that it was waiting for snow, and of course nice weather to take new photos! Now that the first snow photos have been made, we are waiting for the summer so that we can also take beautiful summer photos. So for now just the old summer photos and then quickly new summer photos. Of the house and the renovated swimming pool, because we also have plans for the swimming pool.
Every year the arrival of spring in Ramsau am Dachstein is celebrated with the “Frühlingsfest der Pferde”. For over thirty years it has been celebrated in this way that the cows go up to the pasture. The cows stay on the pasture all summer long. The party is in the center of Ramsau for two days, with the procession as the highlight on Sunday. In addition to traditional dance and music groups, more than a hundred horses take part in this parade. Cheerfully decorated horses and carriages pass by the passers-by. Wear and tradition predominate here. Everyone in the parade and the vast majority of visitors is dressed in this Austrian dress; a lederhose or dirndl.
Every year a Dachstein queen is crowned in the cozy party tent, where people dance and party until the late hours. The proceeds of the festivities will go to the local Bergrettung. This year the event takes place on 8 and 9 June.
After we renovated the wellness / relaxation area last year and provided it with underfloor heating, it was now time to install the new sauna. The old sauna still worked perfectly, but because it only has room for 2 to 3 people, we decided to build a new one. In time, a nice steam cabin will be installed at the site of the old sauna. The new sauna can accommodate 6 to 8 people and has a beautiful standing stove.
The local flying school “Aufwind” exists 30 years today! And by flying school they mean here the address where you can learn to paraglide. Opposite Haus Bernhard at the bottom of the Rittisberg is the landing place where nice stands stood and from where everything was organized. The beautiful terrace weather was great for paragliding. From the terrace next to the competition landing place you could watch how all the paragliders tried to land on the target. That turned out not to be that simple!
You could book tandem flights and watch cool demos from experienced jumpers. From the Dachstein these kites showed what you can do, hanging on such a parachute. Helicopter sightseeing flights were also possible throughout the day. Over the Dachstein glacier and over the Rittisberg, what a view !!
