A winter holiday in Ramsau am Dachstein is very versatile, besides ‘normal’ skiing there is so much more to do! The beautiful landscape lying on the mighty Dachstein glacier is unique, there is a sunny, south-facing high plateau which allows cross-country skiing, hiking, horseback riding in the snow or trips on a fat bike or a romantic horse sleigh. And of course not to forget, a break to enjoy typical Austrian dishes on a terrace in the sun at a beautiful alpine hut. Haus Bernhard is beautifully situated in the middle of the blue slopes, hiking trails and cross-country trails.
Alpine skiing
Alpine skiers can indulge themselves in Austria’s largest ski area, one of the largest in Europe. Ski Amadé consists of 5 regions, of which Schladming-Dachstein is the largest. This winter sports area has 185 kilometers of slopes, where 76 lifts quickly take you back to the top. The 4-Berge-Skishaukel of Schladming are the center of this skiing pleasure. 760 kilometers of piste fun, modern gondola lifts and authentic alpine huts for a short break and something to eat. By car or from the nearby bus stop you can reach each of these ski mountains, the Planai, the Reiteralm, Hochwurzen and the Hauser Kaibling separately.
The most modern snow machines ensure that the slopes are in optimum quality from early winter until Easter. Due to the very good preparation techniques and the top snow production, these slopes are always in perfect condition. The Dachstein Glacier at an altitude of 2700 meters offers absolute snow certainty with the beautiful wide slopes with natural snow.
Family ski holiday
In the heart of Schladming-Dachstein lies the family ski area Ramsau Dachstein at an altitude of 1,100 -2,700 meters. For novice skiers and children, the Zauberlift and the adventure slopes of Kali are practically on the doorstep and on the Rittisberg with perfectly groomed slopes, even advanced skiers can ski for a few hours, ideal to refresh their technique. At the bottom of the Rittisberg, the ski school Ramsau has a wonderful place where the smallest children are taught the basics of skiing.
In Ramsau’s largest sports shop, Sport Ski Willy, within walking distance, you can rent or buy the sports equipment of your choice. Right next door, in the Alpincenter Dachstein, you can buy ski passes and the Ramsau Ski School is also located. For the more daring, you can also book a tandem paragliding flight in the Alpine Center.
Cross-country skiing
There are 220 km of skating and cross-country skiing trails in all levels of difficulty for beginners and top athletes. You can easily board from Haus Bernhard. The 13 trails lead through Ramsau past the World Cup stadium where the Norwegian Combination World Championships also take place every year, or simply through the beautiful surroundings where forests alternate with vistas with the most breathtaking views. In Ramsau Ort there is a special 2.5 km long night trail.
Real family vacation
In addition to the groomed trails, there are more than 70 km of groomed winter hiking trails. Take a beautiful walk in the sun and take a seat on one of the many sun-drenched terraces to enjoy yourself. These beautiful trails also invite you to take a romantic ride in an authentic horse sleigh. The sled will bring you to one of the ancient alpine huts, where you can enjoy a hot chocolate with the most delicious flambé Kaiserschmarren.
The toboggan run on the Rittisberg is open three evenings a week, an unforgettable experience! Especially when you combine this with eating spare ribs on the Rittisberg. In short, Ramsau is the ideal place to spend a wonderful holiday with the whole family (different generations and/or non-skiers).
Wellness
After a day full of action and fun, you can relax in our wellness area with Finnish sauna, sun loungers with soothing music and light therapy. This room is also equipped with a number of fitness machines. An elliptical trainer, an exercise bike, a punching bag, yoga mats, kettlebells in different weights.
Of course you can use our own ski and wax room in winter.
