Ramsau am Dachstein has an abundance of alpine huts. These old huts used to be the residence of the farmer and his cows during the summer period, when the cows stay on the alpine pasture. Most of these huts are hundreds of years old, and are located in the mid to high mountains. The use of these alpine huts has changed over the years. They no longer serve as accommodation for the farmer, but mostly now have a tourist purpose. Alpine huts located on the ski slopes are known as ski huts, but also on hiking or cross-country skiing routes, these huts are the place to enjoy delicious Austrian food on the terrace in the sunshine. The location of these alpine huts is often fairytale-like at an overview point, making the views phenomenal.
